![]() It has a 454 cubic-inch V8 with four-bolt main, LS6 solid lifters, a GM Winters aluminum intake, and a big Holley four-barrel carburetor on top. Not many LS6 big blocks have been professionally built to these performance standards. The LS6 is so coveted by collectors because this was the only year Chevy offered it in the Chevelle before insurance regulation killed off the monster block. Anyone could order one, or even buy one off the showroom floor. ![]() Back in the day, the adage was … “There’s no replacement for displacement.” The more cubic inches the better. So when GM decided to lift its ban on big block motors in its mid-size cars, it was like giving Chevrolet the "go-ahead" to uleash the most powerful engine of all time, the LS6 454/450 horsepower big block motor in the Chevelle. ![]()
